In a Facebook post of veteran broadcaster and journalist, Jay Sonza, he revealed an information he got about the guns of the Armed Forces of the Philippines bought days after Benigno Aquino III became the Philippine President.

According Sonza, almost 61,000 M4 rifles worth P1.9 Billion are now dumped somewhere, useless because they are all defective.

The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte gave Remington, the manufacturer of the guns, 3 months to to repair the defective firearms. These rifles would have replace the obsolete MI6 and M14 armalite rifles that our soldiers are currently using.

If Remington refuses, the rifles can only be sold as scrap metal by the kilo or sell it to the black market illegally.

Kanina-kanina lang ay nakatanggap ako ng impormasyon mula sa aking mga kaibigan sa tanggulang bansa. Ito ay may kinalaman sa isyu ng mga baril ng ating sandatahang lakas na binili ng gobyerno ilang araw bago matapos ang panunungkulan ni Bengino Aquino III bilang presidente ng Republika.

Batay sa impormasyon, halos 61,000 M4 riffles na nagkakahalaga ng halos dalawang (P1.9) bilyon piso ang kasalukuyang nakaimbak at hindi magamit ng mga sundalo dahil ito ay depektibo.

Ayon pa rin sa impormasyon, binigyan ng talong (3) buwan ang Remington, supplier ng mga baril upang maisagawa ang kauukulan repair sa mga defective firearms. Ang mga baril na ito ay siya sanang pamalit ng Armed Forces sa mga lumang MI6 at M14 armalite riffles na kasalukuyang gamit ng mga sundalo.

Nauna rito, nakatanggap ng ulat ang AFP at DND mula sa Army Markmanship Training Center na nagsabing may malaking diperensiya ang mga M4 mula sa Remington. Kabilang dito ang rear sight at kalog kapag ipinutok ng may distansiyang mula 100 hanggang 200 metrong layo.

Ayon sa impormasyon, hindi mawari ng Tanggulang Bansa kung ano ang kanilang gagawin sakaling hindi maisaayos ng husto ng Remington ang libo-libong assault rifle sa takdang panahon.

Bayad na po ang mga defective M4 assault riffles ilang araw bago ang 2016 elections. 

Dalawa lang ang maaring kabagsakan ng mga armas kapag nagkataon. Ibenta ng por kilo sa magbabakal o ibenta ito ng palihim sa black market, para maging pera na bawal naman."
